Bio: Dr. Carrie

Dr. Carrie Fisher, DAcCHM, AP

Welcome to The Wellness Tree! I’m Dr. Carrie Fisher, and I’m glad you’re here.

My practice is built around one simple idea: take the time to understand what’s really going on instead of just chasing symptoms.

Every patient has a different story. Some come in because they’re dealing with chronic pain. Others want help understanding complicated lab work, improving their health, recovering from an injury, navigating menopause, or simply figuring out why they don’t feel like themselves anymore. My job is to listen, connect the dots, and build a treatment plan that’s personalized to you.

My background is in kinesiology, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and integrative medicine, but my clinical approach starts with anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, medical history, laboratory testing, and the best information we have available. I use acupuncture, dry needling, herbal medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle medicine as tools, not because they’re alternative, but because they’re often effective when they’re used for the right reasons.

Sports Medicine & Pain Management

Working with athletes has always been one of my favorite parts of practice.

As a lifelong runner and ultramarathoner, I know what it feels like when your body isn’t cooperating with your goals. Whether you’re trying to qualify for Boston, finish your first 5K, get back to the gym, or simply walk without pain, I understand how frustrating injuries can be.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with athletes from organizations including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Phillies, and Toronto Blue Jays, but I enjoy working just as much with everyday people who simply want to move better and feel better.

Pain is rarely caused by one thing. I look at movement patterns, previous injuries, muscle imbalances, nerve irritation, inflammation, training habits, recovery, and overall health to figure out why something is happening and how to fix it.

More Than Acupuncture

While many patients first find me because they’re looking for acupuncture, my practice has evolved into much more than that.

I spend a lot of time reviewing laboratory work, medications, supplements, nutrition, and lifestyle factors to help patients better understand their health. Sometimes the answer is acupuncture. Sometimes it’s changing a supplement, improving nutrition, working on strength and mobility, or helping patients understand what their lab results actually mean. Often, it’s a combination of several small changes that together make a big difference.

I also believe good healthcare is collaborative. If I think another provider or specialist is the right person to help you, I’ll tell you. My goal has never been to replace your primary care physician. It’s to be another member of your healthcare team.

Outside of the clinic you’ll usually find me running, hiking, birding, or reading. I’ve completed two 100-mile ultramarathons, several Pinellas Trail Challenges, and I’m an active member of the Dunedin running community. Those experiences have given me a real appreciation for what it takes to stay healthy, recover from injuries, and keep doing the things you love.

I’d love the opportunity to help you do the same.
